Consumer Reports has released its latest reliability rankings for the 2026 model year, and the results once again highlight a strong showing from Japanese automakers. Subaru takes the top spot, while Toyota dominates much of the list, with only one model from another brand breaking into the top ten.
The 2026 Subaru Impreza leads the rankings with a reliability score of 80, earning the title of the most reliable car for 2026. Close behind, the Toyota Corolla Cross finishes second with a 79-point score, missing the top position by just one point.
Two models are tied just below the leaders. The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek and the 2026 Toyota Crown both post reliability scores of 78, placing them third and fourth respectively and keeping them firmly in the top tier of the rankings.
Toyota continues its strong presence in the middle of the list. The Toyota Corolla takes fifth place with a score of 76, followed by the Toyota Tacoma in sixth and the Honda Accord in seventh, both earning 74 points.
The lower half of the top ten is rounded out by a mix of SUVs and hybrids. The Toyota Grand Highlander Hybrid secures eighth place with a 73-point score, while the Toyota Highlander and Lexus NX close out the list in ninth and tenth positions, each recording 71 points.
